Document preview doesn't work

When you try to preview a document, an error message is shown in place of the expected document content.

Cause

OpenKM uses OpenOffice / LibreOffice to make conversions from original document format to PDF, which is the required format for the previewer. If the preview doesn't work the main reason in a misconfiguration or because the OpenOffice / LibreOffice process doesn't work as expected. This happens more often in Windows platform, where the "ooffice" seems to be frozen.

Solution

To solve this problem in Windows, use the "Process Explorer" utility and find the "soffice" process. Kill it and it's descendants. Once, the process is killed restart OpenKM.
