Digital Signature extension

Digital Signature helps you to sign documents with installed certificates.

The Digital Signature tool based on Java Web Start is deprecated; consider using the OpenKM Windows Digital Signature Client.

This option is only available if you have enabled the Digital Signature feature.

You can sign documents in the repository or sign new documents.

Only PDF documents can be signed, or documents that can be converted to PDF format.

This feature requires Java to be enabled in your browser. For security reasons, encryption and decryption are always performed on the user's computer.

If you're using a recent version of Google Chrome, keep in mind that Java applets won't work. Please take a look at Browser configuration for more info.

Sign the document in the repository

  • Choose the document.
  • Click on  the Sign document menu option in the tools menu. You will be shown a popup.

  • Choose a certificate.
  • Click on the Sign button.

As part of setting a Digital Signature, a comment "signed" is added to the document. You can view it from the History tab.

Upload and sign a new document

  • Click on the Add document icon.
  • Choose a file from your computer.
  • Check the Sign Document checkbox.
  • Click on the Send button.

Digital Signature is incompatible with the "Import document from ZIP" option.
