Cryptography extension

Cryptography helps you add additional protection to your documents.

The Cryptography extension, based on Java Web Start, is deprecated; consider using the OpenKM Windows Encryption Tool.

Tip

This option is only available if you have enabled the Cryptography feature.

This feature requires Java to be enabled in your browser. For security reasons, the procedures for encrypting and decrypting are always performed on the user’s computer.

Danger

If you’re using a recent version of Google Chrome, keep in mind that Java applets won’t work. Please take a look at Browser configuration for more information.

Caution

When a document is encrypted, you cannot preview it or search by its contents.

 Cryptography features are only available from the Tools menu.

Feature	Description
Upload a new encrypted document	Upload a new encrypted document.
Encrypt a document	Encrypt an existing repository document.
Edit an encrypted document	Edit an existing encrypted repository document.
Update an encrypted document	Upload a new version of an encrypted document.
Download the decrypted document	Download the decrypted version of the selected encrypted document.
Decrypt a document	Decrypt the selected document into the repository.
